Is there an Alzheimer’s cure breakthrough in the near future? Millions of people are wondering when will there be an Alzheimer’s cure? As I do more research on Early Onset Alzheimer’s, it becomes frighteningly clear that a cure is *not* yet in sight. Although there are 3 drugs that slow down the progression of the disease, we are still falling short on finding that permanent cure, and many companies are working to find a cure.
Why? No one seems to know why ‘amyloid plaque‘ appears in the first place. Amyloid plaque is one of the two components in the brain that makes Alzheimer’s. For all these years, it has remained the ultimate mystery. Once *that* mystery is solved, we will likely find a cure. At least that is what I believe. We should all hope and pray that it will happen soon!
There are multiple clinical trials looking for that Alzheimer’s cure breakthrough. I’m glad the medical community continues to fight this battle. Thinking positively, I think that once a reason for the formation of plaque is discovered, I believe a cure is imminent. Take a look at the article, We Will Find a Breakthrough for Alzheimer’s Disease, from Time’s ‘Finding An Alzheimer’s Cure Breakthrough’ for some interesting and very promising information.
This article is on the Time Magazine website, written by Maria C. Carrillo, Chief Science Offer for the Alzheimer’s Association. Maria Carrillo explains in great detail. A really good read and some sign of hope!
